PRE-SEASON PREPARATION
 

bulletReplace spark plugs at the beginning of each season. (Torque spark plugs)
 
bulletRemove oil level plug from gearcase and check for proper oil level.
 
bulletThoroughly clean and refinish surfaces as required.
 
bulletInstall and secure a fully charged battery. Clean and inspect battery
connections. Check polarity before installing battery cables. After
cables are installed, cover cable connections with grease or special protective
compound to prevent corrosion. Install accidental short circuit protection
for the positive terminal.
 
bulletRun motor. Check water pump and, where applicable, thermostat operation.
 
bulletCheck carburetion and timing.
 
bulletCheck steering, tilt and trim mechanisms and controls for proper operation
and connection security. Make sure controls do not bind or stick.
