Marine Service Technology
Marine Service Technology is a job preparatory program that presents students with technical and manipulative skills that are necessary to diagnose, overhaul and repair marine systems and their components. The curriculum also includes AC/DC electrical theory as it pertains to ABYC & NMEA standards, as well as marine electronics installation & repairs (radar, sonar, GPS, depth finders and communications systems). With the application of mechanical theory, class lectures, hands-on shop activities, demonstrations and visual aids, students are taken through marine sub-systems and instructed in their theory of operation, diagnosis and repair. Each Marine Service Technology student is expected to maintain a journal that is based on daily lectures. Evaluations are contingent on results of periodic tests and manipulative assessments throughout the program. The Marine Service Technology program offers students the opportunity to prepare for various careers in the marine field.
Blended Marine Class
Web sites, on-line discussions, and other virtual communication methods are not substitutes for face-to-face technical assistance. But when electronic tools are carefully integrated with face-to-face learning, this type of blended learning can enhance development opportunities for Marine Technicians.
Our new Blended Marine Technology Program can be custom fit for the high school graduate to enter the work force, the full time office worker who needs more training, or the individual who is looking for a brand new career. Blended classes will give you the skills you need to stay competitive in today's job market. Fit around your schedule, enabling you to succeed, and helping you reach your full potential. The online portion will enable students to upgrade their skills 24/7 to complete safety, written and theory, allowing you to test at home while coming to class only to complete the lab portion of their training.
